    You’ve got it arse about tit in regard to English names. The spelling reflects the way they used to be pronounced, later generations corrupted them. The -cester- in Worcestershire is derived from the Latin castrum (encampment) and later meant city. There are variations of this in other town names – Chester, Lancaster, Leicester etc. Old English C was pronounced either as ch or k depending on the region. Hence you have the words kirk and church. I think we should revolt against slovenly speech and pronounce them how they’re spelt i.e put the k back in knife and know (related to the words cunning, cognisance etc.) By the way, Brisbane means break bone.

    What the ‘effing hell has this got to do with Art??
    Emails from Artfido used to be great, and always had a link to show wonderful artworks, right through to unusual sculpture work.
    All I get in my inbox these days are links to shite like this, which is similar to the garbage you usually find on Buzzfeed or something??
    I notice that no one has put a name to this article??…. Not bloody surprised either!
