Ai Weiwei’s ‘Forever Bicycles’ Installation in Toronto

On display from October 6 – 27 at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, Canada, is renowned Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei‘s Forever Bicycles installation. The 3,144 interconnected bicycles served as the centerpiece for last weekend’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche art festival, a dusk til dawn celebration with installation and performance artworks located around the city.

Having just completed its eighth year, Ai Weiwei’s installation has quickly become the event’s most globally recognized to date. For more pictures from the night, be sure to check out the official website. Also be sure to check out the timelapse video at the bottom of the post to see the colossal artwork being installed.

  1. So creative, so wonderful.
I just wonder if these awesome artists get enough patrons to support them and if they do earn a decent livelihood. Hope they do.
