An Australian House That Floats Above the Sea

If you’ve been lucky enough to take a trip down the famous Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia, you may have seen a house seemingly and precariously placed on the size of a cliff face.  Using tricks of perspective and elegant modern architecture, this amazing house was designed and built by architects F2 Architecture.

The building is built on a pole that lifts it 40m (or about 130 feet) above the slope below it. Once you’ve crossed the bridge to the building itself (and provided you aren’t afraid of heights), you’ll be greeted with a spectacular and commanding view of Fairhaven Beach and the Great Ocean Road below.

The building can be rented from View Retreats for between AUD$440 and AUD$1,220 a night, and it’s not kid- or pet-friendly, so it’s definitely for those looking for a luxurious getaway for two!
