Finally, Artist Paints Female Nudes As They Really Are (a little NSFW)

cover1

Victoria Selbach is a painter and nudes are her subject of choice. But don’t expect her artistic outpout to resemble Will Cotton’s airy pinup girls, John Currin’s luminous buxom forms or Lucian Freud’s fleshy animals. No, Selbach spares all elements of added fantasy or repulsion in her artworks, rendering her subjects, female and unclothed, as they truly are.

Imagine that.

Finally, Artist Paints Female Nudes As They Really Are….

wut?? The art is amazing but the headline and set up is ridiculous…it’s 2014 and this person believes that “finally” female nudes are being painted without superfluous detail??? Because of the comparison to two other artists that don’t paint in the same vein, this is a breath of fresh air? Ok.I love the work, but there are lots of unique selling points to harp on about in these paintings than the “female nudes as they really are” aspect…it’s actually doing a disservice to the artist framing it this way.
